VanGo Call for Artists VanGo is the mobile component of Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Garden’s ArtReach programming that brings a museum field trip experience to elementary school children in Volusia and Flagler Counties. VanGo offers access to original, contemporary art exhibits and multi-disciplinary art activities presented by teaching artist Sandy Fraser, MA. The only program of its kind in Florida, VanGo is cruising into our community to educate over 10,000 children a year in the visual arts and to inspire creative thinking everywhere! Van Go will feature the work of artists residing in Volusia, Flagler, Lake, Seminole, Orange and Brevard Counties, along with art displayed as part of the rotating exhibit schedule at Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens. VanGo is accepting submissions for 2D and 3D artwork for the following themes and dates: • January 5th - February 20th, 2009 Hold Still: Art from Observation VanGo will explore the natural world and the artist’s interaction and reaction to it through observation and representation in art. Works from Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Jan Vermeer and Claes Oldenberg will be components of the exhibit. • February 23rd – April 24th Color: It’s a Small World After All Van Go will look at color from a scientific, symbolic and cultural perspective. Art works that explore color as theme, theory and expression will be featured. Works from Piet Mondrian, Victor Vasarely, Vincent Van Gogh and Mark Rothko will be incorporated into the exhibit. • April 27th – June 5th Art & the Environment: What Goes Around Comes Around VanGo will feature the environment and art made from re-used and found materials. VanGo will focus on global “trash to treasure” art and objects. Work from Louise Nevelson, Albert Bierstadt, Claude Monet and Georgia O’Keefe will reflect artist’s interactions with the environment as part of this exhibit.
