August 25th-October 2nd
VanGo Presents:
Shape and Line: Expression is Mine
VanGo guides participants on an exploration of line and shape found in nature, world art and cultures. World artists include Calder, Frykholm, Lichtenstein, Mondrian, Arman, and Adami. The featured activity for this exhibit is the utilization of line and shape through the creation of tessellations.
VanGo’s Shape and Line program emphasizes:
• Composing with 2D and 3D geometric shapes (Mathematics)
• Utilizing multiple strategies to develop grade appropriate vocabulary (Language Arts)
• Sorting objects by observable properties such as size, shape, texture and color(Science)
• Demonstrating understanding of the world in spatial terms (Social Studies)
October 6th-December 4th
VanGo Presents:
Please Copy Me: Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery
VanGo proudly presents its first group exhibition “Pieces of Eight”, a celebration of the beauty and richness of Renaissance art interpreted through the eyes and palettes of eight celebrated artists located in Brevard County, Florida. The featured activity for this exhibit is still life based on art from observation.
VanGo’s Please Copy Me program emphasizes:
• Describing, analyzing and composing with shapes in space (Mathematics)
• Collecting, processing and presenting information (Language Arts)
• Recognizing that both human events and historical beliefs can have major impacts on the environment (Science)
• Understanding that cultural and historical beliefs are reflected in art forms (Social Studies)
December 8th-January 29th
VanGo Presents:
Feeling it Now: Texture all Around Us
VanGo inspires participants with an interactive display of texture in art and design. World artists include Bonnard, Rembrandt, Copley, Caravaggio, Kustodiev and Ringgold. The featured activity is mixed-media collage.
VanGo’s Texture All Around program emphasizes:
• Discussing and describing the properties of 2D and 3D shape, space and form (Mathematics)
• Utilizing multiple strategies to develop grade appropriate vocabulary (Language Arts)
• Recognizing that the shape of materials such as paper can be changed by tearing, cutting and crumpling (Science)
• Demonstrating understanding of the world in spatial terms (Social Studies)
February 2nd-April 2nd
VanGo Presents:
The Nature of the Beast: Animals in Art
VanGo engages participants in a lively discussion and presentation on the depiction of animals in art and their role in world art and culture. World artists include Colville, Picasso, Tamayo, Doumouchel, and Renoir. The featured activity is the creation of a 3D animal sculpture.
VanGo’s Animals in Art program emphasizes:
• Describing and discussing the properties of 2D and 3D shape, space and form (Mathematics)
• Collecting, processing and presenting information (Language Arts)
• Recognizing that the shape of materials such as clay can be changed by smashing, cutting and rolling (Science)
• Understanding cultural and historical beliefs reflected in art forms (Social Studies)
April 6th-May 28th
VanGo Presents:
Color my World: The Science and Symbolism of Color
VanGo explores the science behind the magic of color, and how color is used for individual and cultural expression in art and history. World artists include Kandinsky, Miro, Derain, Gontcharoya and Dewasne. The featured art activity explores the properties of color through the discussion of color theory and the practice of mixing colors.
VanGo’s Color My World program emphasizes:
• Discussing and describing shapes and forms (Mathematics)
• Understanding how ideas, decisions and events shape world art, history and culture (Language Arts)
• Raising questions about the natural world, investigating answers and generating appropriate explanations (Science)
• Understanding how ideas, decisions and events shape world art, history and culture (Social Studies)
June 1st-July 30th
VanGo Presents:
Lights, Canvas, Action: Movement and Rhythm in Art
VanGo celebrates movement and rhythm found in art and design. The featured art activity practices capturing movement in natural and man-made objects. World artists include Munch, Shahn, Degas, Homer and Seurat.
VanGo’s Movement in Art exhibit emphasizes:
• Describing and analyzing shapes and space (Mathematics)
• Utilizing multiple strategies to develop grade appropriate vocabulary (Language Arts)
• Sorting objects by observable properties such as size, shape, color and weight (Science)
• Understanding methods of communication and developments that facilitate visual communication (Social Studies)
